Hello friends, This morning we woke up in Paris. Conincidentally, we also went to sleep in Paris last night. As we are having problems with Internet access on the computer my posting is limited, thus the brevity. Hopefully it will not effect the levity. The question of the century is...are the French rude? I have used my French everywhere possible and they DO seem to appreciate it, however it is time consuming. It is also quite a mixture of English and French. "may I have une café americain avec petite eh...eh...eh... vanilla ice cream?" There was a man blowing huge bubbles for children with a frisbee on the ground for coins. I looked through my bag for a euro coin for Hannah to put in the frisbee, but I only had British coins so I gave her one of those. she put it in his frisbee and he stopped what he was doing, reached into the frisbee, took the coin out, and gave it back to her. He looked at me and said something in French. it could have been as nice as "Thank you for your thoughtfulness, you are a lovely and kind woman, but I cannot spend it here and you can spend it when you go home" or maybe he said something more like "are you a stupid idiot? Why the hell would you give me pounds when we are in France? Euros, idiot, we take Euors!". There was no way to tell by his inflection. I just smiled and shrugged my shoulders at him. I'll let you be the judge. I had an interesting dinner last night and this morning we are visiting my penpal's rented flat for breakfast. I will post more when I can.
I love to travel, so I do it as often as possible. When I do anything, especially travel, I find the "absurdity in the everyday", and I just can't keep it to myself. What fun would that be? Like what you've read? Let me know.
